Yup, looks like a late unmarked Cutts, something made recently. How does it shoot?

With great difficulty haha. It's VERY front heavy.

It does still chamber 45 ACP -- headspacing on the case mouth or in moon clips.

These 1917s always seem to have lived a lot of different lives. I've owned three including this one. The other two (S&Ws) came to me in Hogue monogrips. I figure that means they were working guns somewhere not that long ago.

I'll bet if you took that pipe off at about 3" and crown, mill and slide a fat blade in for a sight, it'll shoot heavy loads in little rathole groups. I'd put a Hogue monogrip on it as well. Those make magic as far as I was concerned.

I'd still have a go, just to see. It'd be like trying to stabilize one of those buntliners for some gentleman's offhand shooting.

The fins disappeared on the later barrels anyway. Like the .50 M2 heavy barrel, the theory is the large surface allows more air to circulate around the barrel to remove heat. This one's just strange...
