Looking at the tank, I'm reminded of a hilarious line from the movie A Bridge Too Far when the John Frost and the 1st Para arrive in downtown Arnhem:

Lt. Col John Frost: "You know, something just occurred to me."
Maj. Harry Carlyle: "What's that, sir?"
Frost:"We're wearing the wrong camouflage. It's all very well for the country but I doubt very much it is going to fool anyone in the towns."
Carlyle looks up, cross-eyed, at the leaves on his helmet.

    ****

How do you make a tank look like a pile of rubble?

If you mean the branches effect, I think it's a slightly defoliated tree on the far side of the tank...not attached to the tank...
