If You Liked "Band of Brother's" .......

FYI...HBO has been working on another World War II television drama mini-series called "The Pacific". Like the "Band of Brothers', it is based on the memoirs of WWII veterans. In this case Eugene Sledge (With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa) and Robert Leckie (Helmet For My Pillow). Most critic's consider Eugene Sledge's book to be one of the best memoirs about WWII ever written.

Anyway, the reason I am writing is to let you know that you can hear recordings of a conversation between Studs Terkel and Eugene Sledge at the following website. Another great interview to listen to is with Richard Prendergast who was in the Battle of the Bulge and captured. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did and you should try to read the books!

    To hear the recordings: http://www.studsterkel.org/gwar.php

Caption: Eugene B. Sledge in the summer of 1945 after the battle of Okinawa, in which he survived 82 days of combat.

Thanks, but the "The Pacific" preview was yanked by HBO for copyright shenanigans....I'll be on the lookout for it when it's done though.

Looks like a must watch. I hope someone posts here when schedule is fixed. The TV in this house is mostly turned onto the NHL*, so I often miss good things if I do not remember to schedule them via DVR.

*"Hockey is not a matter of life or death, it is much more important than that!", at least that is what Wendy says. She should know as she was born in Hockey Town.

Thanks for the information and links!
Don't blame me - I voted for Palin.
