A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. I believe they received war stocks of No4's
(all makes) Stens,Brens etc and brought back home as the Britishicon Indian Army from Burma and Indochina.

So the newly independent Indian Army had a good number, plus they 'liberated' a good few from Pakistan.....

Based on some I have, India did FTR No.4, No. (T) and No.5 rifles. In some cases they added new serial numbers.

Canadaicon sold No 4's to India, and Pakistan, late 1948. I know Pakistan ordered 100,000, but don't know about India's numbers.
