    Scope Mount Endeavor

I have built (in process of) a No1 MkIII from the ground up with all New Old Stock and a new barrel. Thus, this rifle is absolutely not original. With that out of the way and hopefully to avoid any crucifixion...

I had a pair of Whitehead scope mount replicas which didn't work out for mounting my Malcomb 6X telescopic scope to the left of the receiver. This has left me with the only real and financially viable way of mounting it with this S&K mount. Is this TOO retarded looking, or will it render the rifle still with a bit of vintage class?

I just cannot seem to locate any Aldis-type scopes within a reasonable price for this project, nor do I wish to tack on any modern-looking scope.

At least get the mounts down on the receiver, rather than on top of the S&K base.

At least get the mounts down onto the receiver - get rid of the S&K base.

    That looks just plain wrong.
The Germanicon e-bay site can be a good source for correct looking vintage scopes. They're not as cheap as they used to be though, and you do need a windage adjustable rear mount for most of them.

Haha, This is why I came here. Thank you for the honest reply. Short of outright buying some T-model or something from H&H, it's going to be rather difficult to maintain a period-correct setup. I will try my luck on that German Ebay as you mentioned.
