L4 question

Simple question really as I'm thinking down the road a bit of a build.

What would be the proper finish for an L4 bren gun? Circa 1965.

I believe that would be good as grand finale mate.... But not so much as a surface finish.

What would be the proper finish for an L4 bren gun? Circa 1965.

Peter Laidler stated in a couple of threads here that from the time after WW2 they were bead blasted and phosphate finished, and Suncorite painted as required.

The ones I used in MG Falling Plate matches were just blued......and very thin, but the general run of issues were phosphated.

That must have been great shoots. You could almost have had a coffee back of the line while the gun did the work...

BAR they were fun, however the L2A1 heavy barrel outshot them 8 times out of 10 and it was a lot lighter for the rundowns as well.

We just used rifle, the guys that did it really well were just dog nutz...well worth watching. Our C2 shoot was a different thing.
