No4 Mk1...what is this part and how can i remove it???

I am converting a sporter mk1* and the last part I need to remove is this one piece that no one seems to name on the parts sites. BRP does show it on their schematics but there is not a name and the parts are not in stock.

Parts 33 and 34...which was replaced by a screw on the Mk2 stock. I have the parts on my sporter stock but am not sure how to remove them from there without damaging the stock. It appears this piece is pinned in which would require me to drill through my repro stock as that and a few other cuts were missed.

Or I could use the Mk2 pakistani stock i got at auction though I would rather stash that one or sell it off.

Why do you want / need to remove it ?

The strap is riveted to the stock. You have to drill the rivet (34) out and they cannot be reused. Leave them alone.

The part is the stock reinforcement plate which is to prevent splitting around the trigger area where a lot of wood has been removed. It is a permanent part and there is no need to remove it. Breakeyp is correct.

So that leaves me in a spot for the restoration. I may have to Dremel off the ends of the rivet and glue it just for appearance.

Aaaahh, no. It wont, without a modicum of detailed cabinetry (as opposed to basic carpentry.)

The hung trigger fitting requires additional clearance at the rear of the lower stock, hence the pinning by the bolt that passes transversely through the rear of the stock.

The issue that the OP has is a No 4 Mk 1* body and an available No 4 Mk 2 lower stock. The reverse of your fair and sensible question.

Because he is saying that it is replaced with a screw on later stocks. (Most people probably haven't noticed.)
