I just looked and found two. Both measure 17" length. I'll bet they're from 870 Remington that was converted with a mag extension. I'd just send it in a bubble envelope.

Thanks very much for your offer Jim. I'm not sure what to do till I can confirm the actual length of trench gun mag springs. I may be able to just cut the original down since most of it is usable less an inch.

Then you should actually be OK. It only needs to be full length, you aren't going to the battle field with it. Maybe just local protection. It'll work for that.

You only need enough extra spring to get that last single shell to feed reliably. Were not talking about a luger that you use a tool to load the magazine because of it’s heavy duty spring which is needed in order to get rounds to feed fast enough to run the exceptionally fast toggle action.

    M12 riot barrel

A friend of mine didn't want this Riot barrel and offered it to me yesterday for a price I couldn't refuse. It has a clean parked finish, "CYL", bore ordinance stamp and 1940 mfr date. Bore is mirror except for a small apparent rust spot inside....I guess I'll have to start looking for the rest of it now.

I was always under the impression that M12 barrels were very difficult to change out and fit to another recvr but also required special Winchester tools and M12 parts to fit to a different recvr. I’m obviously not a gunsmith and could be wrong, often am.

Yes sir, I'm from what I've seen online, it would require a gunsmith to attach a receiver extension to the barrel properly and with the equipment or tools.

The barrel was too good to pass up and so far I've just been reviewing replacement extension options and prices. Something might turn up somewhere.

    Forearm replacement help

I want to replace the existing forearm on my Model 12 with one that looks like a Trench or Riot Gun forearm. I think they were 18 groove and straight.

So far I can't find any information on how to separate the action slide from the forearm.
I can disassemble up to and including removal of the action slide screw cap but beyond that I'm unsure and don't want to mess something up.

If Tom or anyone else that could help with the correct procedure it would be much appreciated...

    Thanks,

    Dick
