    Lithgow Enfield or not?

I just got this great Enfield which I was told that it was a Lithgowicon.
However I can't find anything on it that would verify that.
Can anyone out there help me? I'm not an expert on these guns.
    It says "GRI 1948" "No.1 MK3"
I cant seem to get the pictures uploaded.
    Thanks

GRI is generally a Indian marking the aussiE rifles where with a shield and star until 1926? And then it has letters of MA LITHGOW the year stamp on them . If it was in Australianicon service it would also have a D arrow D on it

This one doesn't have a shield, only the GRI 1948, No.I MKIII * It does have a Crown above it all, but that's it.
The stock has two markings that look to be ( this is just a guess) two circles, one has 500 over an arrow pointing up and something or other underneath that (within the circle, the other circle has a D over an arrow pointing up with a T on the left side of the arrow, and an L(?) on the right with something or other underneath the arrow. The bolt, receiver and rear sight numbers match as does the magazine number. "96215 J".
The nose cap seems fairly new and is not the same serial number.
Don't know if any of this helps.....sure wish I could figure out how to load pictures.

GRI is the Indian marking for King George.

GRI - George Rex Imperator (George, King, & Emperor of India)

It is a Rifle manufactured by the RFI (Rifle factory Ishapore) in India.
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Could it be that with my serial number, I might have one of the last rifles made in India?

I doubt it, yours was manufactured in 1948 (After Independence in 1947 the GRI was dropped in 1948) so, yours may be one of the last produced whilst Britainicon ruled India but certainly not the last produced in India.

    1986 & 1987 No1 Mk3 manufactured by RFI (India)

Lots of pictures of all the markings on the rifle will help the experts to give, well, expert advice.

Didn't RFI scrub and remark the guns they FTR'd post war? Also, does it have a screw through the forend (perpendicular to the barrel) about an inch forward of the front most edge of the bottom metal.
