Where do you put the tripod?

Visited the local gun show today and picked up two sets of legs for scout regt scopes.

Now, where do they go in a 4T transit chest?

They don’t. They’re not listed on the contents label on the chest lid, only the scout scope is. Sorry I don’t have a picture to hand to post to illustrate for you (I assume your chest is missing its label).
I don’t think the ‘legs’ are even part of the CES but others far more knowledgeable will hopefully confirm either way.

Correct, they are not included in the CES.

Sorry the picture is not bigger, but it is just my 'file' picture, if necessary I could go and get the chest out of storage and take a picture.

Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Are they legs for the "Signal" telescope?

The problem we have today is every seller putting the word "sniper" on almost every piece of kit there're trying to sell. I've lost count of the number of Parker-Hale target telescope tripods that are attributed to the military!

    Thanks guys.

One was a lightweight PH tripod that will go with my L42a1 that I bought for $100

The other was a very nice 1916 date Signal tripod for one of my WWII rifles, bought for $300.

My folding Canadianicon tripod had plenty of room as the Canadian scope case does not fit the chest.

Four tripods down, one to go.

300!!! Was it full length or cut down? They are rather less dear over hear in the UKicon. I am a slightly strange chap who uses his teli sig and scout reg scopes on the range as spotting scopes, so I use the tripods I have. They don’t fit in either chest and where not CES items. You see a lot cut down to a short spotting scope length but I don’t think there is any evidence for this occurring for active service.

There is an old thread on the WWI forum about the tall and short wooden tripods https://www.greatwarforum.org/topic/...tands-tripods/
My opinion is that both types were manufactured that way, not later cut down. While I'm sure some of the tall tripods were cut down by civilian shooters post war, the short one I have and have seen were obviously made that way as the fit and finish is far too good to have been done by bubba.
