once bought a box of miscellaneous civil war memorabilia - I wanted it for a scrap of the flag of the 185th NY. It had a womans G.A.R. fountain pen (sold for $100) lincoln mourning pin ($1400) various other pins and stuff all for $100 - good stuff is still out there

I’m a much younger member of the forum than the average and I like to think about how people will react to my stuff once I’m gone.
I’m a big fan of big steel “tanker” desks, for example.
I own four!
By the time I’m gone, these desks will be well over 100 years old.
Imagine someone seeing them in my estate auction. “Where have these things been hiding!?”
It’s a good feeling to be a caretaker.
