I believe the 10th Mtn Div was one of the first US Divisions to "test" the "new" M1919A6. They noted several deficiencies in design such as the carrying handle was to flimsy and moved up and down on the barrel jacket. The feet extension releases were located on the bottom of the bipod and could not be worked when covered with mud. Moved to the top of the bipod. Also the barrel booster in some cases did not have enough power to cycle the weapon. Also redesigned for better functioning and attachment of the bipod.
