Here’s a Source for Clearing Rod Repros

    Gents,

I know many of us are permanently on the hunt for reproduction clearing rods for our various long Lees and carbines and .303 Martinis. For me, it’s been a never-ending quest over the past two decades.

So let me introduce you to Chris Westley in New Zealandicon, whom I first ran across on eBay a couple of months ago, and then dealt with directly. All told, I have just bought 15 rods from Chris, shown in the last attached pic (from top): MHR trials rifle (1), MMR Mk II (1), MLM Mk I/I* (4), MMCC (3), MLE (2) and LMC/LEC (4).

Chris is a delightful chap and a pleasure to work with. Even though we had no specs to work from, just some not very good photos, he even put together an excellent rod for my trials-pattern Martini-Henry, a rifle I’d thought I’d never be able to get a rod for.

I highly recommend Chris, who can be reached at chris-westley@xtra.co.nz. Tell him Doug Munro sent you.

    Cheers,

    Coggo

P.S. No doubt there is some simple reason why the thumbnails appear upside down, but I can't imagine what it is. Regrets.

If the rod was officially "deleted", what is the point of restoring it?

OK, it is an indicator of an event, and I have a couple of Oz-made repro samples here, but how many actually survived official service with their rods intact?

As left service? Or, how you imagine it was?

You'll be right mate, though I wish you'd stop sending all the water our way....if it gets any deeper I will be able to surf to NZicon and drop in on Stuart.

Do you remember Ed Horton?, now those were the stirring days.
