Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Failed to sell in the live auction on Tuesday so trying again in the timed 'unsolds' as usual but no change in estimate/reserve that I can see so I think they'll struggle.
p.s. shouldn't this be in the "Commercial Auction/sale gossip" section?

I'd say £4000-5000 max, without any auction fees to add on.
It's a bog standard AT with a nice scope.
Whoever is doing the estimates is very optimistic

[I totally agree, when this company decided to stay at their Norfolk base and not bring their stock to London with all of the costs involved there was a suggestion from them that they might reduce their fees but of course this has never happened.
They still apply some very optimistic estimates and then expect the buyer to pay an additional 30% on top, and just be careful if you are a UK
buyer as some of the lots will also incur import VAT costs on the hammer price as well.

With regard to import VAT being charged by auctioneers don't take it at face value either.
I bought a rifle a year or two ago via the above auctioneer which they properly indicated had been imported by them for the sale so VAT would apply on the hammer price. Not a problem as I factored the import VAT costs into my bid. However they then attempted to charge me the full 20% rate rather than the reduced rate of 5% that applies to items over 100 years old. When I queried it I pointed out that it wasn't difficult to prove the age of the rifle as the factory that made the rifle had helpfully stamped '1918' under the Royal cyhper on the butt socket. Profuse apologies soon followed!

That particular auctioneer some years ago worked out of an old school in Lymington Hampshire; on viewing day I went along and asked to look at a K98
and see what state the rifling was in. My request was refused even after offering to show them the variation on my FAC for said rifle, which incidentally was in my hand at the time.
Once bitten etc...
