Book: Without Warning: Canadian Sniper Equipment of the 20th Century

    SOLD!

Law, Clive M. 2004. Service Publications, Ottawa, Ontario, Canadaicon. Softcover, 9x11, First Edition, 87 pages, b/w photographs and illustrations, bibliography and endnotes. ISBN?13: 9781894581165; ISBN?10: 1894581164.

The late, and much-missed, Clive Law (1954-2017) was an author as well as owner/publisher of Service Publications, a company devoted to the publication of books and periodicals about Canadian military subjects. This book, the eighth and final in the UpClose Series, examines the many types of sniper rifles and optics used by the Canadian Army. Starting with the early days of the Great War (1914-1919) when the Ross rifle was mated to the Warner & Swayze telescopic sight, the book examines a variety of sniper rifles and equipment used by Canadian Forces over the next 100 years. The book details new information about Small Arms Limited (Long Branch) and their experimental rifles, as well as information on Research Enterprises Limited (REL) and the experimental scopes they developed for the Long Branch rifles. Post-war rifles used by the Canadian Army include the Garandicon, Parker-Hale C3 and C3A1, the FN C1 and C2 (FAL) and the MacMillan Bros Tac50. This book is based on Clive's original research at the Canadian National Archives and the Canadian Department of National Defence.
