    Mystery Rebated Shell Casing

    Picked this up at the local farmers market today. Can't find anything like it. Steel case, appears to be 16.5-17mm, 18mm at case mouth, rebated base 14mm, primed, 62mm tall.

    Some WW2 aircraft cannon (20mm to 30mm) also had rebated case heads, one common example is the 20mm cannon on the Japaneseicon Zero cartridge.
    also there are Germanicon examples too

    I assumed it was something from WWII which is why I bought it. I am familiar with the rebated 20mm cartridges and figured this was for something similar. Nothing was turning up.
