They made them in .45 ACP and 9mm. Typical excellent Marlin quality of the day other than the crap plastic buffers in the rear of the receiver which crumbled over 20-30 years. Easily and inexpensively replaced though so no big deal. I had a few in 9mm sporting British commercial proofs that were former UK police issue. A simple, handy and accurate little carbine.
I didn't know Marlin made it in 45 ACP - so did a search this morning and found this You-Tube video with a really nice one. Actually there are (2) videos on it, so watched them both.

I watched the video and low and behold, the plastic buffer disintegrated jamming the trigger mechanism. I replaced them in the Model 9s with reproductions from Numrich/GPC. I'm not sure but they are different and probably made of a better blend of plastic than the originals. I also have a Marlin 922 in .22 Magnum here in stock that had the same problem so replaced that one too. All three rifles are good as new now. I had a few of the Model 45 too but they are all long sold.
