Nice looking helmets. I don't have any flight helmets just two HALO helmets. One of the leather type and the other as a modified motorcycle helmet with comms and visor and camouflaged.

    Tanker's Helmet

Here is my post WW2 tanker's helmet, as I understand it, it was made in West Germanyicon in the 1960's and based on the WW2 US tanker's helmet. I believe that there are a number of small differences to the original WW2 US design.

You do see this version of the tanker's helmet being portrayed as being WW2, however, my understanding is that it is not.

I settled for my Jap helmet. I am not paying $900 for a helmet that I have no idea if it's real or not, there are so many fakes around. I bought a repro that looked good to be a place holder and early this year spotted one on ebay that was an original helmet with original paint and star but an aged repro liner. Even that was around $200 but it was still less than a lot of rusty shells I've seen around. My WWII Russianicon helmet is a WWII production helmet with a late 40's refurbishment date with a WWII liner. About the only thing that isn't original to WWII is the paint job and the refurb stamp. I can live with that. These also are faked heavily,

The only repro helmets that I have are a couple of M38 Fallschirmjager helmets because originals are unaffordable for me. Both were pre-owned, nearly new examples that I found on eBay and I think they are really good for what they are.

I have four, maybe five repro helmets. One is a M38 Fallschirmjager helmet for the same reason, can't afford one. Mine is not the best copy. I put decals on it and then a camo cover, none of which look original but it's just for fun. The Japaneseicon helmet and two maybe three Germanicon M40 helmets I got to make different things out of. One is a fantasy Afrika Korps helmet, a second is a Chinese Nationalist helmet, both I think I've posted here somewhere. Neither has decals, they were both painted on by me. I made the tree stencil from scratch, the Chinese stencil was purchased. The possible third as I can't remember if I ever actually bought it or not is going to be a German with chicken wire. If I do have it, nothing's been done to it yet. I've kind of stalled on finding the right chicken wire. Pretty sure I have the helmet somewhere. I was getting them cheap for a while.

I had the same thing happen to me (gained 10 anyway). I was told that they fed us cadets double rations. Also, we could buy beer on post, and it was HOT in Fayetnam.

I would like to take a moment to remember member Harlan for sparking my interest in helmet collecting. I hope his collection found a good home and I trust he did as well. Gone but not forgotten. May he rest in peace.
