    Pattern 1918 Scope Dimensions Help

    Hello all,

I'm back to making reproduction caps after a bit of a hiatus. Im helping a chap with a set for his Pattern 1918 Scope that is mounted to his MK III* HT. I have here another repro set to gauge dimensions but its a less than ideal approach.

Would anyone know the ocular and objective bell diameters of these scopes? I believe it to be somewhere around 30mm but I'd like to confirm before sending these off.

The cap style is also a bit murky. I have images that show two distinct styles and maybe someone has some insight into the proper issued design?

The first is a conventional solid strap between the two cups and another more complicated style that uses two individual straps per cup that move connected via stitched keepers. This latter style is akin to the No 32 caps but is design motif commonly found on smaller English cases from the early 20th century.

The left hand picture shows the Model 1918 scope but with the Australianicon style lens caps from WW2. The Britishicon WW1 style is a simple single strap. The scope on the right, although made by the same Periscopic Prism Company was an earlier but completely different design.
