A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. It probably doesn't matter as it was either a stop gap towards the picitinni rail, training towards S&B conversion or to replace a stolen Unertl.

It's a Leopold varix3 either a 4-12x or (more likely) 4.5-14x

Was the Cadex Pic rail made exclusively for the DND, or is it COTS?

I would suggest the Cadex rail is not a COTS item, but doubt it would be controlled.

I understand it to be aluminum...

You could just buy the Ken Farrell base which is COTS (and steel), but doesn't have the recoil bar.
