    Remington 03-A3 Possible Purchase

Part 2 of the endless milsurp quest. I'll see this in person in the afternoon.

Remington 03-A3 supposedly all matching, 3581192 serial, 6-44 RA barrel, scant stock, unknown condition of stock markings, clean looking barrel condition. Seller has a firm listed price of $900 usd. Comments welcome. Thanks

Monday 8/28 may possibly be a very expensive day for me between this and the carbine this gentleman is selling.

Pretty typical of how things go in my life regarding 03's the seller is holding on to it for a buddy who's interested. At least the carbine will go home with me later. I'm "next in line" should his buddy fall through so there's that I guess.

May be a blessing in disguise. Look closely on each side of the cut-off. Does it look like disturbed metal/welding/refinishing to you? If it looks like a reclaimed drill rifle when in hand, just hand it back and say, "No, thank you."

Thanks for the heads up. I hadn't noticed that but will look very closely if he calls me back. I doubt I'll hear back from him.

Would certainly explain why it's such stellar condition...

It may just be an illusion, but, the front barrel-band looks like it may be a 1903 band, rather than a 1903A3 band.

Good catch, That's definitely a 1903 band. Also I would second martin08 --- the cutoff area looks suspicious. Salt Flat

The rifle is a re-barreled, re-stocked parts queen fitted with an incorrect M1903 milled upper band. The rifle is worth the $900 asking price, but that's all. The seller's balk worked in your favor. I highly recommend that you keep looking.
