Do you have the two top pieces to hold the rifles in place.
I have the Aussie chest which holds 8 rifles and bayonets.

Hill-Clark-Francis Ltd. of New Liskard, Ontario is the maker as I believe Warren told us long ago.
They also had branches in Sudbury, Timmins and Kirkland Lake, as well as Noranda, Quebec.
Do the marks left by the muzzles on the inside faces of the ends suggest a .22 or a .303?

Thanks for the info on the manufacturer. I will pull the box and check the end for marks and post up a photo.
Does any one know what the lightly tacked on bracket against the back wall of the box was designed for?

I would hazard a guess at a space for 37 pattern slings to accompany the rifles.
That's a great piece of Enfield memorabilia!

I don’t think it was for slings.
I had another one of these chests a long time ago, as I recall, it had the same bracket.
Bayonets?

The Lithgow 8 rifle chest came with 8 bayonets

The tacked bracket definitely looks like an add-on, my best guess is a couple 20 round boxes of .303 would fit in there nicely
