    Rifles from P & S......

Can I ask here if those with experience with P&S can give advise for ordering. I noted the listing said VG....did not mention if matched or not. They say VG means no pitting in barrel...etc. Can I rely on this? I don't see a return policy...what is your experience? Just getting close to jumping in.
Another interesting thing with these milsurps is the pricing. Are we getting hosed here? When comparing apples with apples....K31icon...395.00 here and 159.00 in the U.S. also Germanicon M98K...375.00 here and 199.00 in the U.S. all in similar VG condition. Is our dollar worth that little? I thought the exchange rate was about 20 cents on the dollar? Anyway...ranting again, I apologize. Back to the original question about P&S. Dave

The American market is quite a bit larger than the Canadian market. I am pretty sure you will find that those rifles came in to North America through the US. For the 10 or 20 rifles that a Cdn dealer brings in from the wholesaler in the US, he is not going to be able to sell a firearm for the same price as the US counterpart. He also has fees like shipping, import permit, duty, brokerage fees, all which will add to the price.
Also, since there is very few sources here in Canadaicon, a dealer will charge what the market will bear.

Hit the nail on the head....

I don't think our dealers here buy from the U.S. importers as it is more difficult that way. I also think that import fees and transport would be similar for both Countries. I do think there may be some truth in the "charge as much as the market will bear" theme. Again...only speculation but if we were able to import from the U.S. do you not think that our prices in Canadaicon would come down? We are a captive market and are not allowed as "Free Canadians" to purchase outside our country. Now, what about P&S? Dave

Regarding P&S; Have you emailed Jean for clarification on your condition and return policy questions? Best to get those answers directly.

I've dealt with P&S and not had any issues, nor have I ever heard of anyone with problems with them.

I've bought over 15 rifles from Jean - no issues thus far. In one case the rifle was not as advertised, thogh it wasn;t Jean's fault as he would have to have taken precise measurements of the stock to know this. I e-mail him about it and before we could even dicker about it, he e-mailed that a replacement was in the mail.

    Now THAT's customer service

Thanks to all who responded. This is invaluable information to someone who is a first time buyer. I did e-mail and am waiting for a reply. Dave
