They may have only built a few but here is a wake up of just how big the Russianicon TYphoon submarine is 2 sailors next to it's vertical rudder.
Enough fire power in her and the USAicon's ballistic subs without land based nukes to lay waste to the entire planet many times over now that's a very sobering thing to grasp.

I've always been fascinated by subs and the men, and now women that crew them. Lord knows I couldn't have been a submariner. I've been lucky to explore the U.S.iconS. Seawolf in Galveston, Texas, U.S.S. Drum in Mobile, Alabama, U.S.S. Bowfin in Pearl Harbor, U.S.S. Dolphin and the Sovieticon era B39 in San Diego, HMCS Onondaga in Vancouver, B.C. and a Los Angeles fast attack submarine in Esquimalt, B.C. The last two were still in service and it was interesting to see the differences between a diesel electric and a nuclear powered submarine.....at least from as much as we were allowed to see. Interestingly, despite being different generations of subs, both were armed with the Mark 48 ADCAP torpedoes.

At 6' 6", I could only dream! I got to spend plenty of time at sea though, mainly on the USS Nassau. There is no serenity like the open ocean. Last I heard she was decommissioned, and being chopped up for scrap metal somewhere in Louisiana over the last couple years.
God bless you LHA-4. There is likely enough of my scalp on your bulkheads to make you a blood relative.

LHA's and LPH's are some of the coolest warships ever. I was lucky to be able to tour the USS Tripoli LPH 10 just before it was turned into razor blades.
