    Pretty cool demonstraion

Old footage of a test conventional armour V's Chobham pretty effective considering it took 2 x APDS from a Chieftain at a simulated 1200m engagement & 2 shaped charges with no penetration.
Not sure what happened but the sound does not work for some reason works on the TV !

Interesting video (and audio) Cinders, thank you for posting it. We've come a long way from the Sixties in protecting our AFV's with nothing but Chobham armour. ERA and active protection systems such as the Trophy APS have greatly increased the survivability of tanks with such systems installed.

They all seem to burn about equally well when attacked from above.

For some reason the Abrams has yet to make an appearance in the Ukraine which seems to be missing a golden opportunity to give it a proper trial on a modern battlefield.

Tanks with ammunition stored in the turret bustle complete with blow out panels are far less prone to being completely destroyed from top attack. It didn't take long for the geniuses that decided to put the ammunition in a carousel in the bottom of the turret a la T72 to find out what a huge mistake that was.

I think that it is quite a clever system, the Sovieticon auto-loader based on a carousel. The only slight downside to it is when one is being shot at which clearly the designers failed to take into account and one would have thought is an obvious possibility for a tank.
