Here's one you won't see often. A 120mm M358 AP-T projectile and it's casing T25. These came out in the mid fifties just as rockets were being perfected to destroy armor so they disappeared. Even the 4.5 inch navy shell and projectile seem dwarf beside it.

That's a monster case and manually loaded, I assume. Wouldn't want to have that job. There's a P.P.C.L.I. crest on the wall, were you a member?

It's two part ammunition, that is the projectile goes onto a tray and then the case. I'm thinking a power ram loads them.

Got the biggest case I have in my raggidy collection with a few size comparisons put a 40mm in there as most of you here know the size of a complete round;

L - R = Complete 40mm Bofor, 5" MODO case (Never seen a 5" projie for sale obviously) from our Swan class destroyers now dive wrecks, complete 20 Pounder Smoke round from a Centurion tank.

Five inch were two part loading so the projectile wouldn't be right in the case anyway. I probably won't be getting anything else for a bit myself. I have four pieces leaving soon to give me space and eliminate doubles.

Jim, this 120mm M358 AP-T projectile that you have recently obtained, looking online, it would appear to be a solid shot A.P. projectile, i.e. a non explosive projectile, like the WW2 German 8.8cm/88mm A.P. round. It got me wondering if there are any or many solid shot A.P. tank/artillery rounds currently in use/service today or aren't solid shot A.P. rounds suited to modern types of armour currently in use?

The common use solids today I think are just the darts, like DU or tungsten. There was even a solid for the 105 Fd howitzer but I don't know if it's even issued now, I doubt it. Yes, this one is definitely a solid AP. The practice was a mild steel core, same weight but blue.
