777, you already know the answer to your question!

I guess it's real, in that it physically exists.

I would give you the same answer even if I didn't know where it came from. At the price of lumber, you need to know what you're looking at.

    Wayne,
If that stock is a legit USGI, it's a shame another has been ruined. The power of the mighty $$. It will never end.......

    Fake, fake, fake!
When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!

    Exclamation Rare tagmil treats

The RMC Cartouche above is on a stock Sold by tagmil for $800.00. The buyer is new to the M1icon carbine and trusted his description, feedback and Star ratings on the Auction sight. Seeing and thinking the seller was a 'Big' seller he trusted the Item Specifics where it has it listed as Original, Not Modified, and period correct. Seller having a 99.6% positive with 22,219 transactions.
Buyer upon receiving the stock sought out opinions on the stamp. Got them, passed that information, along with a refund request to the seller who told him:
"Your so called Experts are wrong".
Buyer knows now he made the newbie mistakes but just trying to reach some middle ground if at all possible. Besides the Fake stamp, the bridge is cracked completely thru, same with the hand guard, crack behind the recoil plate, the hole for the buttplate screw has been counter bored where you'd need to sink a plug then drill a pilot hole, the slingwell must have had some type of sling attachment screwed in there so a type of wood epoxy was laid over it. None of this was mentioned and only part can be seen with the strategic auction pictures.
Auction link will time out soon but here it is: WWII M1 Carbine ROCKOLA Type I eye Cut high Wood Stock w handguard RMC M-1 | eBay

I took an interest because he's a veteran and I happened to see his post seeking opinions about the stamp. I was aware of tagmil so I looked at a few of his current listings. They are typical of those after the new guys with vague descriptions and blurry pictures.

Many Rare Items Listed by tagmil.
I noticed this Ultra Rare Type II C marked chrome 'parade' band for $169.95.
This Very early Rare Winchester No Grip type, and high butt cut I cut Hi-Wood stock for $999.95.
And another RMC stock that I believe the box and letters were carved on.

If ever in doubt of how a Seller handles a issue with a buyer. Look for Negative feedback left for a seller and the reply the seller leaves for the buyer. tagmil has left some that border on verbal assault, again IMO. I've added him to the list
