    Krag Safety

Looking for some help, I picked up an 1898 krag rifle that had the safety missing . The safety that I purchased does not have a detent ball or a place for one. Do I have a Kragicon safety ? It locks the bolt in the fire position it falls out when the bolt is worked ?

You have a safety for an M1892. This early version had no spring loaded ball. One for an M1896 or later Kragicon will work.

    Good luck.

    1989 safety

I also have an 1898 that was missing the safety leaf. i bought one from S&S. I believe it is a reproduction. i had to do some fitting and filing, but it works and looks correct.
