This Alice Diehl from Woodhaven Michigan is listed 57 times in this unclaimed funds list,tax exempt B bonds are either Federal,State or Local munincipal bonds and are tax free of fed and state taxes,usually sold in blocks like $10,000 or $20,000 increments,if a million dollar bond issue is sold,some bank usually buys the whole thing,but it looks like a private citizen bought a big hunk,I got a hit,traced back to 1930 and 1937,so it's possible this person if original purchaser may not still be living,so there could be a Heir Apparent out there some where,might even be some one from the Forums,don't know how the particular bond issues were written,10yr. or 20yr. term and whether they were allowed to roll over or compound some how,so all you Michigan people had better start checking your relative lists,there's also another Alice Diehl who is in Trenton and has a small fortune listed.

Makes you wonder just what type of proof you need to claim this stuff,especailly if the person has died. I found a cousins name on our state list for two different items,told her about it but have'nt heard from her yet as to what it was.

Might depend on which state,I found $9,000+ for cousin,Standard Oil stock bought in 40's by her mother-in-law for her son(my cousins husband)since both she and he were deceased and my cousin was spouse,she needed copy of husband's death certificate,copy of marriage license and her ID,that was it,no problems.
I would suffice to say that anything of an official nature that shows a connectiion to the unclaimed property is all that is needed,if property is listed in name of living person,probably only need ID,if in name of relative then the need for proof of connection would kick in along with other survivors,have to determine who is more deserving as heir..(only my opinion).

Washington State had the same thing - my daughter-in-law noticed my dad's name on it. As stated above, we had to produce a death certificate and my birth certificate and I think my brother and I divided about $800 - not a fortune, but nice, none the less!

Rick,did you find your Dad's name on one of the lists I posted?,here is a new list that covers a whole lot of states at one time,try it out(you need to searches every month,some people have found names 2nd. or 3rd. time around,put it in Favorites,
