    Evans Rifle Chambering Issue

    ]Good Morning All,

Back from the range with mixed results on my Military Transitional Evans. Loading, firing, and extraction were great. However, I could not chamber a round. The magazine worked well but when I went to lever the round into the chamber the round jammed. The round, coming out of the chamber, seems pinned to the left side of the receiver and the extractor was engaging/pinning the rim thereby pushing the round to the left. It took a bit of persuasion to disengage the round from the extractor and free up the round to push it into the chamber.

Is the extractor part of chambering? Is the round suppose to sit loose in front of the chamber? Glad I only chambered one round for the first test.

    Thanks,
    Randy

Have you taken a caliper and micrometer to the brass and compared it with the specs?

The extractor should grab the rim so that when the action is opened it will extract the case from the chamber. Without seeing it in person, it could be that the extractor is bent? Or could it be something in the receiver isn't supporting/guiding the cartridge correctly as it leaves the magazine tube and allows the extractor to push the cartridge off track and to the left.

This is a a feeding issue.

    Good Evening,

Thanks. All specs correctly and visually seem correct. Have tried assembling and disassembling several times with the same issue. Not sure what's up but I do have a January appointment with a smith who handles lever action weapons. Randy

Do a check on you-tube for Evans rifle. There are some older videos. You could try reaching out to people who have shot them.
