After 3 days of national mourning, this song may be played at my funeral.

Thank you for posting this video and song. I appreciate the song for its lyrics. Listening to them calls to mind Guy Sajer's The Forgotten Soldier. In all honesty, I have difficulty with the video. Again, thank you for this post. Sincerely. BruceV

It's hard for me to watch a video like that. I have very mixed feelings while watching it. I'm german so on the one hand its a sad song about your comrades but on the other hand I was tought that Nazis where the worst scum and we germans still have the shame for their deeds.
My grandpa was in Stalingrad and even came back from captivity after a few years. He always used to tell me (he died a year ago -god bless that man) that he regrets serving for the Wehrmacht and doing things he could never forget but he also told me that soldiers are equal - no matter on which side they fight. And he told me that these men that fought with him and against him during WWII where to bravest men the world ever saw. It feels wrong to think and to write it but i'm kind of proud of him surviving that hell.
He always told me: "Jung , Soldaten sind ,egal auf welcher Seite sie stehen, immer Feinde und Kameraden."
" Boy- Soldiers are always no matter on which side they fight enemies and comrades at the same time."
I think that is exactly what marksmanship is about. It's not about for which side you fight its about comrades. Sorry if anyone might feel offended by my thread- thats not my intention !

I never heard that song before. I've heard of it but not the music or words.
    Thanks for posting it.
