Green Grease Orginally was made by Slick 50. I had a tub that lased for years. It had PFTE in it. I could not find it now. But I bought a tube of Lucas Oil in green & white tube. It appears to be the same thing. Great stuff on M1icon / M1a. I did order a tube of Mobile syn aircraft grease red, that is good. But I would guess that Green Grease brand is the same also.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. It wasn't until rifles started jamming in combat when the oil was washed off by tropical downpours in the SWPA that Lubriplate was adopted.

Even then it was picked for its waterproof properties and availability off the shelf; not for any special lubrication properties.

So unless you plan to get into a firefight in New Guinea during the rainy season, one grease is probably as good as the next.

I'm with him for the most part. I don't know all the history, but all I know is I had white lithium grease I had from being a cabinet installer. We used to install murphy beds and we had to use that grease on the mounting plates. Hard to explain, but I've exclusively used this and my Garand runs tip top. Well, I haven't shot it in a while but it's been through a couple of thousand rounds with no problems with that grease. And you really don't need a lot. Now my Dad was always giving me crap because it was white and he bought the "tetra grease" that I think Fulton used to sell. It's dark.

And FWIW, I started using a real thin coat of that white grease on the rails and proper points of my autoloading pistols and liked it better than oil flying all over the place. And they run fine too.

It's all good but the best I've found is Permatex Super Lube Multi-Purpose Synthetic Lubricant with Teflon. It's clear, it sticks and a little dab will do ya. I was introduced to it by a gunsmith named Bruce Dow in Florida many years ago and I've never looked back. It also comes as the standard grease with the new Dillon mini-guns which tells you something!

Mobil 1 synthetic wheel bearing grease. Good enough for drive shafts in a Daytona 24 hour race car - good enough for Garandicon.................
