M-1 Carbine to .30 Kurtz!

I ran across an interesting article from an issue of Guns & Ammo in 1966 about this conversion. There are a number of conversions that need to be done, beyond my own capabilities I might add; but the outcome seems to produce some surprising results.
I'm curious to know if any forum members have accomplished the conversion or happen to have a carbine already so converted?

From what I can find, it doesn't seem to offer much of an improvement over the .30 Carbine considering you have to maintain the existing pressure limit.

I had a friend that built one during the late 1960's, alot of work and not worth the trouble nor money. We used 7.62 NM brass to form the cartridges.
You have to open the carbine bolt face to accept the head diameter of the 30-06/308 or what ever you are using to form the brass. The total length of the 30 Kurz has to be able to fit in the carbine magazine.

If you feel that you have to convert the carbine to another caliber, look at the 5.7mm Johnson or the 22 Carbine. You can get 3000 fps out of a 40 gr bullet

Check it out, Johnson advertised a 40 gr bullet using 2400 powder at 3000 fps, Johnson Guns Inc performed the alteration to your carbine (1963) when all those cheap carbines were around too.

The 218 Bee and 22 Hornet are close to 2800 -3000 fps too
