In about 2 weeks, there's going to be a gunshow in your area. Save up your nickles and dimes and check it out. Pass on the jewelry and beef jerky and I'm sure you will find a nice pistol.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. One more question

Does anyone have any experience with the Taurus PT1911?

I've got a Taurus PT1911 in stainless. I personally think it is the best buy on the market for an upgraded (not original GI issue) pistol. Mine has shot cast and ball without problems.

Taurus is a first rate as well, for the money, they stand behind what they sell.
lifetime warranty, though iv handled a few, iv yet to shoot one, RIA makes a nice 1911 variant as well, iv built a few nice pistols from them.
    more on Taurus.
iv owned and shot many medium frame wheel guns, i love the 5 shot .44special they offer, steel frame, fixed sights, they shoot very well, take abuse, and handle my hot loads. never even had a problem with them, and i treat them pourly, i have a 4 inch in my pack for my dirtbike, it rolls around with dirt, tools, and muck, and has always worked, when iv shot it, it even shoots bird shot loads well, takes a couple rounds to dipatch a Grouse but does the job.
i picked up a 5 shot Tracker for my brother 2 weeks ago, he loves it, handles nice, and looks fist class.
the 44mag was around 325.00 my cost, the .44specials i got used at shows for under 250.00, and one as cheap as 125.00.
some deals are still abound at shows.
Charles Dailys are ok, but kinda soft in the slides, iv seen a couple with peaned over slide stops, and a nother with a cracked frame.

With the amount of money you have to spend you are getting in the range of a Dan Wesson 1911. DW's have a great reputation for value, customer service and accuracy.

    Got one

I went to check out some guns. Was looking at a few types XD's Glocks. then I saw a Springfield GI 1911, held it, and was hooked! So I added a new addition to my collection.

I have always been a revolver kind of guy. A few weeks ago I walked into a shop that had an argentine ballester regaud cheap. ( I know it's not a true 1911 copy). It felt good in the hand so I brought it home. The first time I shot it I was converted. Now I'm ordering reloading stuff for it and will have to save up and get a real 1911.
