    ScotArms Auction Report (UK)

    a) Pecar 4-10 Scope Nice condition (not perfect) Clear Optics, No rings £276.00

    b) 7.62 based on a No4 action (serial UF55A31477) , heavy snakeskin barrel, Enforcer type woodwork (but very chunky) £65.00

    c) as b above (serial AU18080) but no magazine £60.00

    d) .22rf BSA War Office Miniature £65.00

    e) .22rf Long Lee Enfield, BSA No9 rearsight Very nice condition -not new looking but not looking 100 years old. Telephone bid won it at £520.00

    f) 303 Long Lee - very dissappointed. It looks like a commercial Long Lee, the forearm was very slim Light Walnut and had no provision for the volley / dial sight, there was no cover on the bolt, no date, and the rifling was very strange. The rifling looked very 'coarse' , bright and sharp and a very tight twist - could it be Metford Rifling ? On the Knox form was a "diamond inside a U" what marking is this ? £360.00

    g) 30/06 P17 standard spec but no rearsight £36.00

Items B & C would be ideal candidates for building an Enforcer clone - good action and "correct" (or very similar) barrels.

For US $ multiply by 1.5

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Found the "diamond inside a U" :

"Sometime after WWII a diamond makes it's appearance within the South African U. It is believed that this mark was used after 31st May, 1961, when the Union of South Africa left the Britishicon Commonwealth and became the Republic of South Africa. This mark has been seen on both rifles and oilers".

Strange that a 1900 Long Lee should have a post 1961 South African mark !
