    dnikkor,

Respectfully, I think you are out of line for "calling anyone out" on this board.

We all have opinions and ripping someone apart for a simple stated opinion does nothing to contribute. Personal attacks have even less place here. Please don't bring this here.

Let's have fun and talk to each other as gentlemen; as if we are standing in front of each other even if we disagree. Nobody wins a war of typed words and it brings down the integrity of this site.

cafdfw;44909, you are correct of course and I again apologize for the "disruption." I do want to let whomever cares know that I am a member of what some call the "mass media" and that others so easily slur with unthinking untruths. I take pride in my profession, as I assume most do. So yes, I do take it personally when someone so flippantly tosses out an incorrect and unfair insult to my profession. This is especially true when the topic is the passing of a heroic and well-reported American and some can't help but insert their own political bias and slogans into the conversation. I readily agree that this particular forum is no place for political "discussions" and am personally done with this thread. Again my apologies.

    dnikkor,

I assumed you were connected with the media in some way from the beginning and you were offended. You are obviously a very intelligent and educated individual. Thank you for your ending comments.

    Now, let's talk carbines!

I just watched the movie ( We Were Solders) 2 weeks ago for the 1st time,.... Great Movie!
Sorry to hear of Ed's passing (when ever it actually took place)
What a great guy he was to his fellow man in every sense of the word!

...I get so sick of hearing every day dipsh-ts being called a hero for doing a good deed that any reasonable person should do anyway.

The things Ed "Too Tall" Freeman did were REAL hero material !
May God Bless & reserect his soul to be with the Lord forever in eterity!
    Amen!

Watching that movie... all including the reporter look and act as heroes!
I watch it about once a month.
Can't help but wonder if 'Snake' the other pilot was awarded.....He should have been.

    Another Hero passes

I didn't know Ed Freeman or don't think I did, but he did a job that had to be done during those few long days in November 1965. There was no percieved danger or at least you didn't recognize it as such. LTC Hal Moore's 7th Cav was in trouble. They were the heros. We did what we could. I was a door gunner on a maintenance batalion D model whose job was to protect the right side of our aircraft. We would survey the damage to down or wounded helicopters and pick up crews if we could. We were asked to bring in supplies and take out wounded. Neither I or the Crew Chief were medics but we got as many on board as we could safely load on noard and head back to An Khe. We only made a few trips back and forth but when I left country in September of '66 I still had not gotten the blood stains from the floor. Welcome Home Brother, and Thank You for a job done well.

    Landtrain,
Your service is greatly appreciated......more than you and 'Your Brothers and Sisters in Arms' will ever know. Along with blessings to the families that were waiting home.

    With Respect...
