Very Important for you to be aware of a new bill HR 45 introduced into the House.
This is the Blair Holt Firearm Licensing &Record of Sale Act of 2009.
We just learned yesterday about this on the Peter Boyles radio program.
Even gun shop owners didn't know about this because it is flying under the radar.

Licensing &Record of Sales Act of 2009. You will get all the information.

Basically this "little" piece of legislation would make it illegal to own a firearm - any rifle with a clip or ANY pistol unless:
.It is registered
.You are fingerprinted
.You supply a current Driver's License
..You supply your Social Security #
.You will submit to a physical &mental evaluation at any time of their choosing
.Each update - change or ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25
- Failure to do so you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject up to a year in jail.

There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 305 stating a child-access provision. Guns must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18..

The Government would have the right to come and inspect that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to children and fine is punishable for up to 5 yrs. in prison.

This is just a "termite" approach to complete confiscation of guns and disarming of our society to the point we have no defense - chip away a little here and there until the goal is accomplished before anyone realizes it.

I wouldn't worry too much about this one. The sponsor is Bobby Rush who introduces this bill or one like it EVERY year. The bill has no co-sponsors and is unlikely to get any.
Bobby Rush is a (former?) Black Panther who has served time for illegal weapons possession. Chicago politician, one trick pony. (Is there any other kind?)

Like Doug r, I don't think that one is going anywhere, but it could be a stalking horse for legislation on the "gun show loophole" or some other anti-gun law.

As the number indicates, it was filed early, but it is not secret, and never has been. Pro-gun forces have not publicized it because they also don't think it has "legs" as they say. The last I heard it had no co-sponsors, although it might have picked up some by now.

I suspect the letter you received was a fund raising effort by some group or other; there are dozens of retired generals and a large number of them have sold the use of their names to various groups. If you want to contribute to that organization, do so, but IMHO the only effective pro-gun group is the NRA. No other organization has the numbers to lobby effectively.

Almost every night on NRANews.com, Cam Edwrds holds up a sign that says "No news on HR 45"

This bill is probably not going anywhere since it has no sponsors. However, I think it is representative of the way anti-gunners think about guns and the lengths they are willing to go to to remove guns from everyone.

Thus the importance of HR45 is in exposing their intent and their underlying convictions and in showing how they will never stop trying to destroy the 2nd.
