    Talking m44 hex receiver

I treated myself to an early birthday present, an M44 Russianicon with a hex receiver. Its a 1945 vintage, mint bore w/o reamer, type 1 bayonet? It has a rather strange #9 stamped into the flat top of the receiver and two very large #2's stamped into the top of the rear end of the stock. It's obviously a rebuild so I'm figuring it has something to do with that. The receiver is dated 1932 and was built by Izzy, it looks like it has zero miles on it. If anybody can tell me anything about it, I'm all ears-SDH

Its definately a refurb, as indicated with the square with a line through it on the receiver. This I beleive was done in Russiaicon (Ukraine has a slash through the square). The hex receiver is rare, and most I have heard of had Tula barrels on them - so that would make yours interesting indeed.

It appears to have a WWII era stock - which is nice. Are the serial numbers matching on the barrel, bolt, trigger guard\magazine, and butt plate? Are they electro penciled or are they stamped? If stamped do they have the letter prefixes too?

Tula and Izhevsk both used haex receivers in about the same proportion, though you hear about the Tulas more often as a recent batch came in over the last few months.

That being said, I don't have an izzy hex yet Nice snag! Also VERY cool that it's a 45. Most hex receiver carbines are 1944 production. I've not even seen a 45 hex izzy in person, though they are out there.

    It's likely unissued since refurb.

Speaking of M44s I seem to have left an M44 bolt at your house on your work table yesterday SDH. It is wraped in a purple thing.
