1903-A3 Stamped Trigger Guard Question

A friend of mine noticed that the front of my trigger guard seemed be recessed more into the stock when comparing it to his A3. I removed my guard screws and plate and noticed that the edges of my stamped trigger guard had cut into the stock wood. He said I should call Bill Ricca and buy a later guard that has a "pad" welded in to prevent this from happening. Unfortunately Bill is out of them.

Does anyone have some solutions to my problem with out permanently altering my rifle?

I don't have a welder.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

have to ask, does your rifle have problem, other then what you stated??
a padded trigger guard will still cut into the wood,
if it aint broke, dont fix it.

Good chance its simply take a seat after 60 plus years,and wont wear any farther.If it isnt producing saw dust dont worry.

this is one of the Joe Poyers Myths.
thats one thing i wished he would have made right.
had nothing to do with the A4, or wood contact..only the strengthen the guard in that area, as they cracked easy.
and usually from being removed wrong, i picked up a large box of triggerguards and stock metal once, half the trigger guards were split in that area.

Other than a terrible trigger pull that makes it difficult to shoot off-hand, the rifle is very accurate off the bench. I guess I won't worry about it.
