The CMPicon sell a scout scope mount for $110. It is easy to mount and replaces the upper hand guard. Follow the instructions. mine seems to be very solid.

Ultimak makes a good M1Aicon scout rail. Don't know if it will fit a heavy barrel.

    Not the same...but might work.

You may be able to find a substitute here...

I have one and have had to trim a bit from the rear so it doesn't bear against the receiver ring.

I had the Amiga Ranges (same as CMPicon) on a Garand with a 10X IER Burris scope and it was great. These are only for normal contour barrels on either the M1 or M14, and the 10X Burris has been discontinued leaving the only choices in new scout scopes the 2.5X Leupold and Burris and some imports that aren't worth the trouble. I've tried the three point M14 scope mounts from all three of the "S" Companies and don't like them for a variety of reasons. Now on the M14 type rifles I only use the Bassett Machine single screw mount the way John Garand intended. Because of the unique way they draw down, they do not shoot loose or lose the zero, and even return very close to zero if removed and replaced. The small Bassett is great for compact scopes like the Burris 3X9 Full Field Tactical and the Picatinny Bassett handles the Long Range and MK4 Leupolds easily. Absolutely no ejection problems and the open sights are not obstructed, which makes sighting in the scope very easy. Just sand bag the rifle and adjust the scope cross hairs to the open sight point of aim. You won't be sorry if you buy a Bassett. I put mine on with some blue lock-tite at 50 inch-pounds and leave them there. You can get the bolt out with them on if you have to. Bassett SM14/M1A Scope Mount
