      HILLBILLY-06 Thats one cool M1, really neat how it was found, and the condition it was in. Good luck with it. I purchased a lend lease U.S. property Enfield No.4 Mk1 which had 2 frank coins stuck in the magazine goo'd up in cosmoline from 1947. A guy in Brittan told me they put coins in them during drill ceramonies, so when they slap and tap thier rifles all around, they made an incredibly loud noise in formation.
      I always thought that was kind of cool, especially since they were dated 1947, and the rifle was made in 1944. I like your story better though, it just sounds so cool to just find an M1 over there, in a barn years later.      		 02-18-2012
