Yea, somebody used an un heat treated 1901 receiver and put together a franken03. It isn't safe to fire and isn't worth what the final bid listed was. I've one of the unused 1901 rear sight base's...
What you've got is a U.S.M.C. sling that was made for the Marine Corps in the 1920's through to the early 1940's.
They were made by Post saddle and harness makers on base out in California I...
Cool!
Photoes!!!
The stock has the cut out for the 03A3 hand guard retaining ring.
If anybody is interested in following it, I've put my last and very best 1903 Springfield up for auction on Gunbroker. This rifle is unique as my description explains.
The Reserve Price is Very low....
Wow! That’s neat!
That’s a Very interesting rifle!
Thanks for sharing that!
He was trying to score a big profit from your lack of any knowlege on the subject. That barreled receiver is worth way way lowers than that. $600.00! Holy crap! I'll bet it didn't even have the...
Do not ever buy a model of rifle that you know nothing about. It's a very expensive way of learning about the subject.

It certainly has that Attic condition that...
I sure do like those early 03's!
I look at the 7's where I believe the leg of the RIA Seven is straight and that of the SA Seven is bent or curved.
Your rear sight Leaf was made at Springfield Armory and is correct for that rifle. An aperture sight slide is easy to find, but your rifle probably had an early one with the Platinm Line on it....

I can't find it on the CMP Forum.
Neat rifle. Yea, Do obtain the early sight and the early bolt body. You might have to remove and stone off the pin on the extractor since original 1892 extractors are tougher to find than the bolt...
Doorkicker, that 1903A3 s a nice looking rifle! Pretty neat.
Both safety and cut off appear Correct to me in that they have Block letters and not Seriff letters. Have you a close up of the cut off and safety? Of the face of the rear sight leaf? Of the...
Oh those rifles have all recently been sold except for one which I've kept.
Here are some 1903's that are in their original configurations with all of their original parts. Except for the Rod Bayonet model which is assembled from original parts that are impossible to find...
Being able to tell whether or not any particular rifle is composed of its original parts takes years of observation and handling of many, many, many rifles. Such knowledge can't be conveyed in a few...
Thanks Bear. I reported in.
