Yes that's a beauty, rifles like that don't come by every day, truly a rare find in rare condition!
I like they way you described how you had to scrounge to come up with the resources and almost...
Well then back to my original request please and ignore the edited portion of my original post......please more pictures if you are able to do that
Very nice looking rifle....are you able to share a few more photos of it?

Haven't seen the L42A1....what lot# is that? A lot of these rifles appear to be refinished.

I might be able to help with a contact in Canada...PM if you want me to look into it
At $1200can, I thought the rifle went for a good price, although lets not forget that was the hammer price so add another 20% for auction fees, taxes, shipping etc.
I'm beginning to second guess...
Pictures of this nice rifle can be seen now....just open the link. Note the numbered mis-match bolt.
Non-Restricted rifle Enfield (Winchester) model P17, .30-06 bolt action, w/ bbl length 26...
Bolt is for a 30-06
Yeah requested that info....I will post that when I find out.
Unfourtunatley bolt does not match, it is stamped! Bolt is a 7 digit serial number while the Winchester made rifle is a 6 digit serial number.
Thanks for that......while not my rifle and the limited pictures I've seen there are no markings indicating foreign service. It does not have the red painted band indicating Canadian service.
Trying to clear the air on this question.
From what I understand P17 bolts were not serialized as they left the factory unlike the P14, without exception I'm not sure.
So a P17 Winchester made...
