I wonder who told the author that L42's were still used in the Gulf and Afghanistan upto 2005............................ that might be an urban myth too far!
There doesn't appear to be any particular pattern to them Steve,
I have seen three types from memory, the one you have looks odd and unfinished in my mind.
If you ring Norman Clark Gunsmiths...
contact pre64win.com
They have lots for sale and can advise on pricing
Thanks for checking
Many thanks.
Having done some closer inspections, it is a Parker Hale Scout with some home modifications, in .308
Hi,
Any info on a 308 Rifle bearing the serial number C-06571 ? Or a clue as to what model it may be?
Thanks
Roy
If it didn't have the engraving it could be called a replica or composed, But IMHO, the addition of the receiver engraving just makes it a plain old fake.
Shipped to Donnington Stores on 26th Feb 1971 - EXT 68/685 - A.I.N 444015/19
Not sure what EXT and AIN are.

134631The only photo you need to tell if it is genuine is the left hand side of the receiver. A3-04's were all stamped like this in order that the scope mount did not obscure the designation. If you...
I don't think so
So a composite L42, put together on a 4T action, engraved to look like an experimental one?
Not an L42 or XL42
The serial number doesn't appear in the L42 Lists.
On the bracket, just above the rear pad, there is a very sharp angular line. I thought this was representative of the angles in the repro...
Some photos for reference, the final photo is of another XL42E1 sold on Gunbroker previously

Currently in Auction in the UK, thoughts on this?
Is the bracket a genuine JC, or a heavily filed repro?
Scope is a Mk3, description does state it's been put together.
Original action?

The other anomaly seems to be that the serial number is stamped into the bolt handle. All the ones I have owned and seen have been electro pencilled. Anyone got a stamped one?
This has to be an assumption, unless you know of this particular rifle?
It seems like an awful lot of machining to mess up a very valuable action? And for what purpose?
If the seller told me today was Sunday, I'd have to check the Calendar
There is a V32750 and a V32754
No Y variants close.
My guess is it is a typo on the list.
This looks more likely than an M85
That rifle has been doing the rounds at trade shows for a few years. I don't believe it is an M85 at all, but made to look like one. The barrel is not original, the stock is repainted, but most...
it probably was stainless. Most everything that we cast was stainless of some grade
They were Investment cast made on a tree of about 6 or 8 at a time.
They were made at the Vickers Factory called Trucast, in Ryde, on the Isle of Wight.
The factory also made the Spirit of...

V32758 isn't on the list
There is a similar number, are you sure it is 32758?
