Thanks for the replies.
I just got back from vacation (included a swing by Camp Perry:cool: )and I'll play with this tomorrow.
Hi all,
I am having a problem w/ my 1903. It is a Remington manufacture. The problem is that on the last round the bolt fails to feed and push the round into the chamber. On every other round in a...
Yes. Thanks. The little "R" appears inside the buttplate trapdoor. I'm thinking everything is original with the exception of the stock.
serial number range is 3,081,xxx
The rifle has a smooth butt plate, and a C stock. The stock has no visible cartouches. It looks like it was sanded and or refurbished, non original. But everything...
Hi all,
What is the correct stock for a Remington 1903? Also the correct butt plate? Is it the same tight checkered buttplate like the Remington 03a3?, Or is it a smooth buttplate?
I appreciate...
Old Salt,
If you recently got this one off of gunbroker, I think I saw the same one you were looking at. From the pictures I saw, if it is the same one, I was concerned about the front sight being...
Is the walking Marine armed with a Winchester Model 12 shotgun in the 1st picture??
interesting.
My great uncle was wounded in action (shot through the shoulder) so whatever he was carrying, he was definitely in combat.
I'll have to try to research what unit he was in, it may...
Hi all. I am trying to figure out whether the story in our family of an heirloom is correct. We have an 1896 Krag rifle that belonged to a Great Uncle who was a world war I veteran (US Army).
The...

Definitely try to find an 03a3 receiver. I would be wary of shooting that rifle as well.
PersaronallyI I would stay far away. I had one. It wouldnt feed right, and was a dog. Also, the receiver I think is indeed cast.
For what is worth, I have used 8mm mauser with no problems.
Can the moderator do a picture sticky thread?? I'll offer a starting point:

150 gr. bullet
55.5 gr. IMR 4350
I'd stick w/ IMR 4895 period. That is the original powder used during wwII. If you start to move away from 4895 on the burn chart, you risk damaging your rifle.
just my $.02
Wow. I'm still kicking myself in the teeth for selling my Smith Corona several years back. You got a two fer!!
Beautiful rifles. Killer sling!!
Thanks for info all. I'll play with it tomorrow and see how it goes.
Hi all. I need some help. After all the discussion in the other thread about POF production, I thought that mine really looked like crap and decided to replace the furniture. I picked up a real nice...
Here is my Pakistani. The pics stink. Sorry. The stock is pretty dinged up, but then again I only paid $125 for it.
