I get the idea now. Thanks everyone.
That's interesting. I saw that shim on my K31. I don't know if it shoots consistently with all the other K31's but Oh My, is it ever accurate. I will never disassemble this rifle. I was going to...
I'm glad I asked. What made me wonder was the aluminum ring at the end of the stock. I figured they put that there to take up the space when they used the older wood. A spacer. They didn't put one...
I would bet money that this rifle, that is all matching including the wood came from an older model that was cut down to fit the new barrel ect. but I can't prove it. Or did they actually make...
We sat in the stands being the "audience" for a star is born. We stood up and cheered when prompted. Spring in Arizona and facing west. It was a tough day. I've never understood why AZ thinks...
What a great thread. Strangers crossing in the night sort of.
Ah, yes, but what were the actual letters? Seems it was strange to me to have a name like that.
Years ago I had a three letter marking on a Garand elevation knob. I thought someone told me it stood for horse shoe nail inc. or some such thing. Anyone remember anything like this?
A little pitting doesn't bother me as much as the heel markings being sandblasted to Very Faint and reparked.
I saw no mention of Swedish rifles. I've never owned a 91/30 that was worth talking about. I bought junk stuff and I know it. For a M-38, get the Polish.
Kind of a clever idea. Still, looks a little goofy. I had a carbine berthier N marked. It had a big block of a front site with a notch cut into it. One of the best front sight ideas I ever saw. ...
I have your post from long ago on this ser. no. It's a long shot. It's lottery odds, so to speak.
Losing the piston hardly ever happens.
Twelve bucks to ship one bullet?
The usual Tanker gets just the front h.g. cut down to a stubby inch and a half. Sometimes it's left off altogether, which I think looks unfinished. I had my barrel machined back at the barrel band...
_shot off a wobbely carpeted block- hmmm, that sounds familiar...let's look at the avatar... yup, Rio Salado!
A tanker is something a "real" Garand fan should own once.
I had the front half of...
Here ae a few of the followers, there are about six different types. You can pick oout the single bevel and the doouble bevel..

I had a trigger group a while back that wouldn't work with a particular trigger. I pulled it aside and taggged it "bad trigger", put another in and everything was fine. The other day I was building...
You probably have a couple of nice service grade rifles. Thise are great shooters and look good in themselves. Then as you read and SEE more garands and talk with the owners you find that there are...
That's about as good a tribute as I've ever read. The old man took a good kid under his wing.
The straight (90' and there were two: the earlier .050" and later .035) cut predated the diagonal cut(mid '44), but by '44 they were only using the cut cylinders if there was excessive play found in...
I was just saying the same thing to a buddy. At least three garand sites, four if yoou coount garanditis, which not many folks even know aboout. I have foound I too can spend an evening at gunbroker...
I have been a member of jouster?CSP(now I'm not sure which is which)for ten years. But, if the same people that have been sending me very distastefull e-mail pertaining to political positions are...
I/ve never seen a safety that looked anything like that. Looks painted. The rifle was possible was returned to CMP for some reason and some parts got switched out before the return. It's happened.
Good job.
