Always better late than never. I appreciate your input.
Thanks. I know. I just thought it was neat.
Thanks. I’m still trying to “restore” mine into original configuration, swapping repro parts for originals as they become available. I just finally got the correct repro laminated wood stock from...
What I’ve heard is lots of hang fires or FTF. Also want to reduce hot loads to more tolerable levels for my shoulder as well as my guns.
Any ideas what I can expect an original barrel band/nose cap and an original barrel band spring to cost for a G43?
Cleaning rod?
After my shooting session my concerns were gone. My observation showed the recoil lug did a fine job. Little if any rearward movement of the lug in its recessed hole.
And the rear gap remains...
A little better photos at the range.

I think Leszek does excellent work despite his bad back.

I need an original G43 nose cap. Any spares out there?
And front sight and base.
Using reproduction right now.
The wait time is quite long but it was worth it.
The pictures aren’t great being taken on my junky work table but you can see the stock looks great.

Well…I understand this story about my old, rusty and pitted Relic magazine isn’t all that interesting to most but I am just tickled that I was able to get an original G43 magazine, that even in such...
One thing I don’t understand is why the PRVI “match” ammo 200 FMJ at 2087 fps seems to kick harder and eject further than the FNM 198 FMJ at 2314 FPS.
I can only assume different powders causing...
Still need to tweak scope a bit.
Shot G43 with FNM again yesterday. Only at 25 yards to get my zf4 zeroed for it, as well as find the right gas port size for proper function. All went very well. Groups pretty tight with the FNM, but...
That’s sad.
I acquire this rusted and pitted Magazine that has holes rusted through it in several places. But I noticed the follower and spring were in pretty good condition, as well as the feed lips still being...
Got to range to test the two batches of FNM 8mm ammo I got. One with headstamp 71–11 and the other 73-5.

These are berdan primed cases but my understanding is they are non-corrosive....
I am fully aware that the FN 49 was released in those various cartridges. The question at hand is did the Egyptians re-barrel their 8 mm FN 49 into 7 x 57 at some point after the war. That is what...
A local gun store has an Egyptian FN 49 for sale. They have it labeled 7 x 57. When I asked if this was an error, they said no, that Egypt had re-barreled a large number of their FN 49’s after the...
Thanks.
Thank you. Do rifle with this marking disk have any more intrinsic value over the bore condition marker disk rifles?

Can anyone provide information about which unit this rifle was issued to based on the brass stock marking disk?
Thanks.
If the powder in my Turk ammo looks like that I would toss it in the garden as well. But if it looks good, I’d think it’s okay. Broke down 8mm Lebel rounds with grey silvery square flake powder....
I have several hundred Turkish 8 mm Mauser rounds that I plan on pulling down. The plan is to load the powder and bullet into new boxer, primed brass. My question is, isn’t the Turkish 8 mm supposed...
I finally finished removing the glossy varnish from my 1895 and hand rubbing four coats of raw linseed oil into it. Looks good. So I took it to the range. Still shoots.
