I was given one of these in 1982 by a high school friend who was in the Air Force as a Air Base Ground Defense troop (ABGD). He was in from 1980 till 1990 and said he used them through his stint.

Peter,
Were any of the 07 slings you saw issued on the L42 MRT marked? I believe the MRT (Mildew Resistant Treatment) markings began in the 50's. Slings that came on the M1917 would have the old...

Gill,
Thanks for the article, I have an M85, C3, M82 (Australian) and 2 L96A1's, Love them all.
I do think it interesting that anytime something written about the M85 it always has a phrase...
The actions they were calling M86 were C3A1 actions, I acquired one and did a 1 to 1 comparison of a known C3A1.
I checked into it, they are all out. Sorry Rebel.
Rebel,
Gunparts Corp in New York has C3A1 action bodies in the white.
I had a 72 M151A2 w/ROPS un-cut. Sold it to a friend that stripped to the bare chassis about 5 years ago to rebuild and there it sets.
I replaced it with a 1979 A2 Marine FAV, one of the last 6...
