You're right Scott, no number . (I'm assuming this is what I'm looking for, by way of contrast: http://www.coolgunsite.com/images/1911/1942_USN_Colt/1942Co8.jpg )15611
Upon further reading on this site, and closer inspection of the photos, the slide says Model of 1911, and not 1911A1.
This was my grandfather's gun. He was a park ranger stationed at Yellowstone or somewhere out west at the entry gate during WW2. A soldier or ex-soldier was traveling through and when asked if he...
I'm sure Honda and Nissan would do the same now, if needed. Wouldn't they?

You can look at old photos of shooters, no one is wearing muffs or plugs. I did see a picture of General Hatcher's brother, holding a rifle. He had cotton plugs in his ears.[/QUOTE]
And those old...
I inherited a mummy wrapped 1903a3, full of cosmo, still in the box it was shipped in in 1957. I enjoyed cleaning it up -- all or mostly original Remington, -- and shooting it. Take some pics of...
I checked and no sign of any green stamp like that. What does that stamp signify?
Thanks for posting my pics and the tips, Charlie.
Was driving past Anniston last week so stopped in and picked out this SG Inland, and canceled my mailed-in order. I liked the sharp stock markings. Measures -1 on muzzle gauge. I guess I'm just a...
I'll check again and post photos soon. Thanks, all

Anyway, I'm over from CSP. I was registered there as Michael the Novice, but since I've been reading Rthe(R)L's and Tarleton's posts for a couple years now, no longer consider myself a novice. ...
