I'd love to come and have a go, do you have firm dates at this point? What range (not distance) is it held at? Havn't been to WA since I was a kid.

Lithy,
just to chase up a bit more on this,
is the stock you have in the pictures original, that is to say is that what it was trialled in??
I am looking at doing one up for myself and need to know the guts on what was issued or as is status of the rifle.
Cheers and thanks

well, Old lancer.. sorry to be the bearer of bad news. What you need to do is consult the SSAA's comprehensive list of approved rifles for the event/ class you wish to shoot. When you get to nationals, you can bet your bottom dollar a stranger with anything other than a gucci GENUINE gun straight off the list will not get a start. I looked into the process a few years ago to having a rifle/ calibre added to their lists... unless there has been a change to the process, it will take you six months to get it looked at, and then approval can only come from a National branch meeting.. the one held after the event at the Nationals!
Now, perhaps contrary to popular belief, although I don't agree with your intent, I can help a bit here....I have found the appropriate document and checked it through. The Omark is on the list for F2 (post 1946) but NOT in the configuration that we here know it was built in. Yes, you guessed it... they had already stuffed it up before- somebody has gone to the trouble of having the wrong combination approved, and now the correct rifle won't be allowed because of it! You would need accompanying official documentation to overturn the previous approval.
Anyway.. here's a link to the page.. it will be as easy as using one of the scopes on the list... Let us know how you go...
cheers,
Brad.

Gday Brad,
whats the prob with an Omark with the top wood taken off, one of those scopes whacked on and away you go? Remember it is faithful l(which means to the best of availiable knowledge) and any rifle evaluated as well. they have to show what they mean by thier configuration as well. I don't see any prob with doing one up and competing in F2 class. Do you?
If lithy's is the genuine thing which we all believe it is and have no reason to doubt it's legitimacy, then whats wrong with a repro of that?
cheers
Ned

Their rules, you need to repro the one they already think is right! According to thier description, Lithy's is wrong. I think it's funny.... typical of the MSD heirachy to stuff it all up, and then refuse to acknowledge the correct... you'd think they were being run by a turki hehehehe

Yeah it probably is!!!
Well that poses the question, what is correct?
What is their description?
cause going by that page you linked and i have seen before there's nothing to say it isn't?
Do you have the detailed description or pics of what the issued trials rifle is?
Now we have started something, I am determined to find what the original trials looks like!!
Cheers and thanks
Ned
maybe sniper cell at singo might have something or john at the museum?
